So, the ranks level up like this, as far as we know:

Conscript: 0-5
Average: 5-15
Veteran: 15-35
Elite: 35-???
Master: ???-infinitum~

Ranks go up by multiples of 5 and 10. First level up needs 5 xp, Veteran needs an extra 10, and Elite takes an additional 20xp. THere are two guesses for how much exp Master ranks needs.

One is by doubling the previous additional xp required, making it +40xp needed. Or it the increase in needed xp is actually +10 for each rank after Average rank, which would make +30 additional xp.

So it seems Master rank needs either 65xp or 75xp. Either way, that's a fuckton of xp.

Oh hey, my notes. :>

I'm wondering if I should make a quick text file with the various "full" names that have been suggested, along with a quick list to see how many times each letter has been used for those names (for example, there are currently three names starting with the letter "C", and three starting with "A").

Can we discuss plans for the future here? The story's threads have inflated before with real discussion, but I kinda feel like this is superfluous there, specially considering the current events. Plans for the future, I mean, not discussions.

I think we should make a basic "Plan" and throw out reasons for it. In my mind, after the sudden rush that was her "birth", her nearly fatal poisoning, her not-quite-a-rape-but-not-entirely-consensual-sex-filled-encounter-with-Emerald, followed shortly thereafter by her marriage to Emerald, Tabuki is trying to make herself a "Home", and build herself a "Family" in the process of that. The Underground is HER home by virtue of her having nothing else, with the Fairies under her command people she feels largely responsible for. They're almost family to her. Granted, she's slightly prideful, and she's slightly 'possessive' of that which she has claimed as being 'hers', but she does care, no matter how much difficulty she has in expressing that.

She wants to make something for herself and of herself. That, to me, is why Tabby is doing what she's doing.

So where is Tabby likely to go from there? Right now she's too busy dealing with the short term emergencies and day to day things. I posted two omakes where Tabby got Cirno to be pissed as hell at Sunny by using "Lily" as the scapegoat (or Tabby trading the Negotiator to Lily and Lily using that to troll EVERYONE in the process). Is that a possible goal? Maybe. Right now we need Tabby to survive her basic encounters, and we need to build up stockpiles of weapons and equipment. Tabby binding Spirits/Elements to weapons/clothes would help, but making a shitload of cash doesn't hurt either. As such, Tabby should probably but uniforms for the rest of her maids/barmaids, and equipment for her troops (plus, Emerald did ask for gloves earlier in-story. Maybe we can bind a spirit/element to them?).

So yeah, that should be our short term goal beyond basic "Survival" here.

I can get behind that, the question is what do we prioritize first.Do we pour our money into barmaid/housemaid uniforms creating a strong non-aggression based economy, or do we focus our money into weapons and combat uniforms making our army capable of safely double/triple expanding in the near future?

>Do we pour our money into barmaid/housemaid uniforms creating a strong non-aggression based economy, or do we focus our money into weapons and combat uniforms making our army capable of safely double/triple expanding in the near future?
Well, let's take stock first. We have 66 silvers, and 20 more on the way due to Cave Squid meat collected. Not counting the uniforms/equipment Deady stole, we have 1 Maid Uniform and 2 Barmaid Uniforms. In order to get the full money potential out of our maids/wenches, we need 3 more Maid Uniforms and 2 more Barmaid Uniforms. The last time we visitied Pedro's we bought out all his Barmaid Uniforms and 1 of his Maid Uniforms. He might still have two maid outfits left, which cost us last time 14 silvers each (so -28 silvers for two more maid uniforms, provided he still has them).

Pedro's shop also had these combat items listed. We also can buy and repair costumes at the clothing shop as well as it Pedro's, but it will cost a bit more according to Pedro.

Weapons
6 pot-metal swords- 9 silvers each. +2 damage. Equip: Mook(melee), Knight, [unknown classes]
6 pot-metal rods- 9 silvers each. 2H. +2 damage. Equip: Mook, Fire Flinger, Witch, [unkown classes]
2 pot-metal spears- 13 silvers each. 2H. +3 damage. Equip: Mook(melee, vet+), Knight, [unknown classes]
2 pairs Leather Gloves- 7 silvers each. +1 damage. Equip: Mook(melee), Brawler, [unknown classes]
2 pairs pot-metal Gauntlets- 13 silvers each. +2 damage. Equip: Mook(melee), Brawler, [unknown classes]
1 pair spiky pot-metal Gauntlets- 17 silvers. +3 damage. Equip: Mook(melee), Brawler, [unknown classes]

Armor
11 bulky paddings- 7 silvers each. +3 hp, -1 damage. Equip: All but Brawler, [unknown classes]
3 Leather vests- 10 silvers each. +3 hp. Equip: All but Brawler, [unknown classes]
1 Spider-silk robe- 21 silvers each. +5 hp. Equip: All
1 pot-metal breastplate- 21 silvers each. +6 hp. Equip: All melee but Brawler, [unknown classes]
1 pot-metal plate- 51 silvers each. +10 hp. Equip: Knight, [unkown classes]
6 pot-metal shields- 9 silvers each, +2 hp. Equip: Mook(melee), Knight, [unkown classes]

So we have 86 Silvers and the choice between buying combat equipment or buying costumes and using whatever is left over on combat equipment. Our ten workers make 1 silver a day each unless they have the appropriate gear (10 silvers minimum), and both outfit descriptions say "+1 silvers/day wage when worn and (working in taverns or bars/performing household duties). Continual wear switches fairy to (Bar Wench/Maidservant) class, wage rises with level when working (in taverns or bars/as a maid)."

So, 10 silver minimum, up to 20 silver just by having the uniforms worn, and as they level up it has the potential to reach 30-40 silvers with "barely" leveled up workers (level 1 or 2). We're currently getting 14 silvers per day (10 workers, 3 costumes, one of the wearers having leveled to lvl 1). So yeah, I think we should buy more Barmaid/Housemaid Uniforms, as it helps get us more combat gear quicker here. I also think we need to have Tabby bind a spirit/element to one piece of gear a day as well to get more out of them for the time being, even if it will cost us around an average of 10 silvers if the binding fails spectacularly, which I don't see occuring all that often.

So yeah, I think when we send Tabby shopping again we should send her to the Clothing store Pedro mentioned first to get an estimate on how much some of their uniforms will cost, how much it would take to repair the Miko uniform that Deady stole, and what other sorts of inventory they will have available (as we know the cost for Pedro's stuff already). At that point, then we can decide what to buy.

If we were focusing exclusively on shopping at Pedro's, I think the shopping list should look something like this:

The two leftover maid outfits (-28 silvers), one pair spiky pot-metal Gauntlets (for Emerald , -17 silvers), and with 41 silvers left at that point we can get #1). 5 bulky paddings (-35 silvers), or #2). 4 pot-metal swords/rods/shields (-36 silvers), or some mixing/matching (though we won't get as many items).

Gotcha, so if we buy all the uniforms we can make between 20 to 30 silvers a day at the minimum instead of the 14 we're currently making.

Pedro doesn't have any more uniforms, we bought all three he had.

If we want more uniforms, may they be for profit or for combat, we need to visit the Clothes Shop.

Now, I'd like for you guys to think each day as a two phased turn. The first phase/action is for Tabuki's social interaction, which also includes diplomatic meetings and stuff regarding the war, and the war phase, where orders are issued (disregard the fact Tabby gives orders during the morning) and carried out. Since we only see the results/effects from the war after Tabby has done her stuff, it's better to think the Social Phase comes first.

Now, about the war itself. Three issued need to be addressed: the financial part, which is being discussed; troop count/status, regarding equipment, classes, etc; and finally, Tabuki herself.

Right now, we have almost no equipment. Spending a SP visiting the Clothes Shop might be wise, though we could buy various weapons and advance our territories, as well as making a profit from the Cave Squids we encounter. There is also the matter of the giant Squid in the Danger Zone (tunnels I), and Kristoph, both whitch probably required armed troops in order to be defeated. The Squid might give a nice profit, much more than the normal sized squids.

I think it's ok to send someone buy the stuff Pedro is selling. Tabby has been there before, we have a list of his wares and their respective prices. Still, Kahi might object to this, wheter directly or indirectly (aka, in story; we might have to send more people to carry stuff, the fairies might get tricked, etc).

Besides these two obvious options we should be taking soon, we need to consider the Metalwork, finding Sakura, read more books, find Marisa for Mima, and increasing our influence among the other characters. These are the hardest to sort out.

Taking Meira to the Metalworker and repair her sword has obvious in-war advantages. We also open better equipment for the troops. Finding Sakura is obligatory, because of our deal with Orin, and we might open the miko class too.

I, personally, think we should also increase our influence among Satori and those around her. Orin, we can do that by dealing with Sakura, while Okuu (and Nitori, by proxy), we could talk about the duel against Yuugi. We might learn some more SCIENCE too, with whitch we could use to improve Tbuki's magic or tattics. Also, we need to ask Satori about Koishi sometime, as we haven't seen her yet and there are hints of her messing around (there is also the matter of Meira and the Little Lamia we've just acquired).

Anf finally, the toughest decision: do we improve Tabuki's powers by reading more books, or should we go deliver Mima's letter and start learning some real destructive power magic? We can assume Mima teaches damage dealer magics, possibly of high cost, considering Marisa is her apprentice. Unfortunatly, for that, Tabby needs to go on an excursion to the surface to deliver the letter; that means the army will be without its Leader and those taken with her as bodyguards for an unkown amount of time, which might compromise some things. ON the other hand, the books consume both a SP and 5 silver each, and gives random skills/spells/perks, if they aren't useless books.

Quoting from thread 4 of Doll's Quest.

Clothes
2 Barmaid Uniforms- 14 silvers each. +1 silvers/day wage when worn and working in taverns or bars. Continual wear switches fairy to Bar Wench class, wage rises with level when working in taverns or bars.
3 Housmaid Uniforms- 14 silvers each. +1 silvers/day wage when worn and performing household duties. Continual wear switches fairy to Maidservant class, wage rises with level when working as a maid.

He had 5 uniforms, we bought 3. 2 Should be left, provided they weren't bought in the meantime.

elemental binding We should buy cheap stuff from Pedro and infuse it with fire and stone spirits. That's the best thing we can do for our troops right now. Improving Tabby's ability to fight Leaders won't help us expand. Fire spirits will let us completely wreck Cirno. We don't need to worry about not being able to enchant equipment fast enough: It's an improvable ability. We'll get faster. We definitely shouldn't summon anything into Meira's sword because we don't know how to unbind spirits yet and we'll probably get access to stronger spirits.

We should head for the fusion reactor. Fusion means sun, right? A sun spirit for our light wand. I have no idea if that'll be useful in combat, but it sounds like an awesome weapon for a mage.

I'd like to deliver Mima's letter as soon as possible. If that means sneaking through hostile territory undercover, so be it.

Ah, that's right. I thought he had one less of each uniform. Honest mistake.

So, we could try sending someone to buy stuff at Pedro's shop, while visiting the Clothes Shops and max on uniforms in one single turn, if the money allows, of course. Next turn we will have quite the amount, since today's SP has been used up on Lily.

After visiting the Clothes Shop, what would be ideal? Talking to Meira to unlock Samurais, hunting Sakura down, and discussing Meira/Lamia with Satori are the topics I think are important at the moment.

15 We should head for the fusion reactor. Fusion means sun, right? A sun spirit for our light wand. I have no idea if that'll be useful in combat, but it sounds like an awesome weapon for a mage.
That's sounds cool. We could also talk to Okuu and have some influence boost at the same time, if possible.

Heh, I remember the talk about how Tabby needs to bind at least one spirit each day and wrote an omake on that "going wrong" ("I don't have any weapons or extra clothes on hand. What else could I try practising on?). But yeah, Tabby needs to bind one spirit/element a day (which should probably be done either at the end of the day due to the fact that shit can wrong and Tabby may need every drop of MP available to her), but we need extra weapons/clothes first. Hmm, I wonder if we should have Tabby make an open offer to her minions that they will be rewarded for any abandoned items/weapons/clothes they bring us.

We should definitely not buy «bulky paddings”. The +3 increase in HP is not worth a -1 reduction in damage. In fact, for most cases, the unit with bulky paddings will lose versus an identical unit without the armor.

We have a lot of unarmed fairies, and we still have a fair amount of unconquered territory that will give us more, so I think we should buy whatever equipment that has the best silver/stat ratio:

Silver/stat ratio

6 pot-metal swords – 4,5 silver/dmg
6 pot-metal rods – 4,5 silver/dmg
2 pot-metal spears – 4,33 silver/dmg
2 pairs Leather Gloves – 7,00 silver/dmg
2 pairs pot-metal Gauntlets - 6,5 silver/dmg
1 pair spiky pot-metal Gauntlets - 5,67 silver/dmg

Armor
11 bulky paddings (No!)
3 Leather vests – 3,33 silver/dmg
1 Spider-silk robe - 4,2 silver/dmg
1 pot-metal breastplate - 3,5 silver/dmg
1 pot-metal plate - 5,1 silver/dmg
6 pot-metal shields - 4,5 silver/dmg

Silver swords and metal rods look mighty tempting.

Training more Brawlers is the best silver/benefit option we have. If we do go up to the surface to deliver Mima's letter, we could leave a large portion of our force training with Yuugi. Just in case it takes forever.

I think we should avoid armors, right now. They are too expensive, and we need to increase damage dealt. Besides, if we're to dress our fairies up, it's better to do so using uniforms.

INteressing enough, at the moment we have exactly enough money to buy 2 swords, 2 rods, and the pair of spiky pot-metal Gauntlets (for Emerald, of course).

I also think we need more FF. We need to replace the DMs since they cause non-lethal damage.

We should also make a note to send Meira off to the Blacksmith to get a price on fixing her sword up, along with price lists for weaponry when we have the time/money. We'd get a major boost with Meira influence wise, her weapon gets improved, and we get price lists from the Blacksmith, along with the possibility of reduced prices if Meira buys them for us.

Keeping her around for too long is asking for it, as Tabby can't lie to save her life; so when Sunny's generals do, eventually, come to the Underground looking for her, it'd help if Tabby can claim that she doesn't have her in total honesty. It'll hopefully be a day or two before that happens though, so that should hopefully give her enough time to recover and figure out how to debrief her infiltrator. The info will be old, but there's still the chance it'll be valid, and if Lily can capitalize it'll keep the other surface fairies quite busy for a while.

As for inviting her to play again, I'm all for it once Tabby's healthy; though I'd prefer it if she could dig up another combat capable spell or two beforehand, so Lily doesn't get bored. No need to change terms or anything, Lily's willing to go easy on Tabby, just need to keep it a ways away from the Bridge so a certain hungover Princess doesn't interrupt again.

Just to play devils advocate, what makes you think that Lily will play along with this? Lily may ask for something in return here. I wasn't sure of the length limits here, but fuck it, since I forgot to include the first few originally named fairies, I'll post the second history here whole.

01. Agateia Girasole: Was born in the Underground. Can find certain types of stones and underground life with ease.
02. Akira: Used to hang out with the fairies Takashi and Kiyoko before she was captured and experimented on by a Human who had found a way to keep her bodily remains whole and intact, even seperate from the rest of her body, or her state of being. Her escape was due to luck more than anything else. She distrusts Humans as a consequence, and utterly loathes the cold, as it remids of her time spend in those frozen containers. She sometimes wonders what became of Mr. West though.
03. Amber Rose: She got stuck in magical amber, and did not die. She does not know how long she was stuck in there, only that it had been quite some time indeed. An Oni found the Amber in the Underground, and sold it to a jeweler. The jeweler planned on selling what he called the "Amber Rose" for quite a bit of money, and was quite displeased when the amber was broken and the fairy inside made her escape.
04. Anne: Likes killing things. Felt she had to flee after she killed a human about 40 years ago though.
05. Bellflower: Surprisingly enough, she HATES flowers. She was named "Bellflower" due to an incident shortly after her birth where she was stuck hanging from a tree with her dress hanging down above her head, with the other fairies calling her "Bellflower" as a joke. Her name doesn't bother her as much anymore, but she still won't tell the whole story beyond the bare basics of what happened that left her in that position to begin with.
06. Bernice Willshire: Born on the Mongolian plains about 600 years ago, "Bernice" has changed her name many times, and watched magic disappear. She has her own thoughts on "Why" magic started to disappear. She heard rumors of Gensokyo, and on her way to it met a british traveler in the process. She let him change her name to what it currently is.
07. Beryl: She used to live near a stream. She loves to eat fish, and is VERY grateful to Tabuki for putting her where she now is. She came to live in the Underground due to a lost bet, where a homeless Fairy bet a bag of never ending cheesy puffs she had come into possession against Beryl's home. Surprisingly, neither fairy cheated in the bet (mainly as neither was clever enough to find a way to cheat more than anything else).
08. Blackheart Bonebreaker: The most foul-mouthed fairy imaginable. She got her name after someone commented that she "Was a very blackhearted little thing." That said, she is very perceptive and intelligent for a fairy. Unfortunately, her foul mouth makes it hard for others to see the intelligence that shines through her expletive filled statements. She's also kind of a clutz. She got chased out of her home when her neighbors got fed up with her calling them such lovely things as "Dunderheaded shitstains" and "Used condom wannabe's".
09. Brandy: Wishes that she was a barmaid. Also wishes that she lived by the sea, and was more human sized so she could meet a sailor who would bring her a locket made from the finest silver in the north of Spain.
10. Caramel Crabapple: Was born in the tunnels, but usually went up to the surface when she wanted to get something to eat. Had to stop doing that due to the Fairy Wars. She named herself after her favorite food.
11. Chiko Stoneflint: Wishes she had her old bow and arrows again more than anything else. Won't say much beyond that.
12. Chris: A very simple fairy. She let a small human child name her, though she wasn't paying enough attention to remember anything of the name other than "Something Chris-something something." As such, she is "Chris." She doesn't remember why she came to the Underground, though she thinks it was for something important at the time. She wouldn't mind being a brawler, or having something to beat the hell out of things, like a rod or gloves. Suffice it to say, she likes hitting things.
13. Ciarra Windchime: When asked about her past, all she will say is that she loved helping make windchimes.
14. Crystal Falls: Born in the Underground near a pile of crystals near a small stream. Got pushed out of her birthplace due to competition.
15. Culex Crystalspire: Was born in Shinki's realm, and looks the part. Ended up wandering around a bit before she found herself in the Former Hell of Blazing Fires. Beyond her slightly odd looks, she's still a normal fairy just like any other. Kind of like the attention she gets due to her unique looks though.
16. Dawn Weave: Used to spend her time helping a human weaver at the crack of dawn. When her human died, she did not know what to do, and so searched for the soul of her human companion, but has not found her soul in either the heavens or hells. As it has been such a long time, her skills have rusted, but if given the opportunity and equipment, she would easily become proficent again in very little time.
17. Dedra Peartree: Fell through a hole into the Underground with Jen Freefall. Blames her for everything that's happened since then.
18. Dominique: Describing her as gloomy is putting it lightly. Her favorite statements usually run along the lines of how "We're all doomed!" and "We delude ourselves to think that our pitiable band will stand up to our enemies!" She wishes she had an enchanted steel sword.
19. Ella Canreadalot: She learned to read due to a very helpful Human who taught her how to. In return, she offered to help out around his house, and got to sleep and eat there. One day, she decided that she wanted to try to make a home for herself with her own hands. Their parting was tender and sweet, and Ella remembers him so fondly even all the years, and has good opinions of humans due to her interactions with him.
20. Ellette: Ellette's full name is "Ellette Anfisa Nasya", but as not many beings outside of certain areas such as Russia speak Cyrillic, she just goes by Ellete. Surprisingly, she LOVES the fact that she can now set things on fire, and honestly loves Tabuki for helping give her that gift. Wishes she had appropriate gear to go along with her new abilities.
21. Elmyra: She LOVES hugging and squeezing cute furry things, along with other fairies, youkai, and humans. Unfortunately, she does not quite understand that her actions tend to usually kill small animals and traumatize fairies in the process.
22. Fabrizia: A VERY recently born fairy, she came into existance less than ten years ago. As she was born from the magic of a very nice smelling flower growing next to a broken can of Febreze, she was (eventually) named after the badly mangled name of that can. She fled to the underground in naive terror when Reimu made an offhanded comment about how Fabrizia should go away to where Reimu would never have to see or hear from her again as she was being annoying. Fabrizia has the power to make things smell nice.
23. Fellupa Beerdrinker: LOVES beer. Also kind of loves singing bawdy songs with Henna when she has the chance. Went drinking one day with Suika, and woke up about three weeks later in the underground. She still doesn't know how she came to be there, or what exactly happened. Loves the Oni made mushroom beer though, and won't leave for that reason.
24. Finni Geewhiz: Was born almost 60 years ago in the North American continent. Wandered about for a while on 'Adventures' in various realms. Ended up in Gensokyo about three years ago, before hearing of the former hells and deciding on exploring them. Made temporary shelter before Tabuki came along. Finds the "Wars" interesting enough that she wants to see how they'll play out, and does want to do her best now that she's 'An army girl' as she puts it.
25. Frances Furypine: Acted as an aid to an unnamed Youkai. Said youkai ended up sealed, and she was left with the fear that she would be next.
26. Henna Buckle: Was absolutely BORED out of her mind until Tabuki showed up. Loves the fact that she now has the ability to ham it up as a Berserker. Loved to sing songs even prior to the fact that she got a Berserker costume.
27. Honey Mints: Named herself after her favorite food. Loves talking about food. Doesn't remember how she ended up in the Underground though, and doesn't seem too bothered by that fact either. Loves the fact that she can now cook her foods due to Tabby's gift of fire magic.
28. Honeyweed Briarfoot: Was born in a honeyweeds briarpatch. Her briarpatch was harvested for their medicinal uses, and she was left without a home.
29. Houri Pineseed: Was born near a very tall pine tree. Lost her home when the tree fell down due to a human woodcutter. Hates humans with a passion.
30. Indigo Hamza: Went to the underground to find and kill the man that supposedly killed her father. Doesn't quite care, or grasp that she didn't actually have a father though.
31. Janice: Went to the Underground to find something she thought was stolen by another fairy, but in truth she left it someplace else and forgot about it.
32. Jasper Ormolu: Was born in the tunnels between a vein of Jasper and Gold.
33. Jen Freefall: Loved fighting while freefalling. Fell through a hole into the underground while fighting another fairy. The combat sealed the hole, and neither could find a way out.
34. Jonathan Jones: Used to hang out with the souls of damned pirates and sailors. Dreams of one day sailing the seas on a ship.
35. Kali Shinkicker: She has the habit of kicking shins. She also has a bad habit of challenging things much bigger than her to shinkicking games. Most Oni are either amused or confused when issued such a challenge.
36. Keiko Boneblossom: Was born in the Underground near a pile of bones. She has the power to make bones "Grow". If Eirin Yagokoro knew of her, she would be employed in her clinic due to her ability.
37. Kerrin Garnet: Went to the Underground in search of fame and fortune. Didn't find either.
38. Levina: Loves the ocean. Cannot wait for the one who lays dreaming to someday awake.
39. Lucy Loveless: Always complains about how there is no real Love in her life. She's kind of envious of Emerald/Tabuki, though she won't admit it.
40. Mallea Gimcrack: Used to live near the Kappa village. Knows quite a bit about how to use a wrench. Sadly she got lost while exploring the reactor and the following hallways of the former hells. Somehow managed to get stuck way down in the underground by the time that Tabuki came along.
41. Marshmallow Buttons: Like many other fairies, she named herself after something unique to herself, which in her case was a love of marshmellows and buttons. She wants to one day open a candy shop, even though she knows she wouldn't know how to run such a business.
42. Melanie: She is very reluctant to talk about her past, and when pressed to talk about her past, she consistantly gives a different ridiculous answer each time as to her history. When asked why she says that her past is none of your business, regardless of who you are.
43. Mimi Gentlehands: Mimi Gentlehands, Fairy Porn Star. Made a lot of silvers performing for the camera. Sadly, she also made bets she was unable to pay.
44. Paige Noisemaker: Loves loud noises. Can make loud noises. Can also make small explosions randomly.
45. Priscila Amano: Wants to dress in fancy gear and swing a spear around like a badass. Went to the underground as she heard that she would be able to find precious metals to make her equipment out of. Sadly, she did not think things through, and she knows nothing about where to find such metals, let alone how she would get them back to where she could get them made for her.
46. Quinn Hargrove: Used to live in the forst of magic near Alice's house, and LOVED breaking into her house and playing with Alice's dolls. Alice finally got fed up with that, and said that Quinn would be welcome to visit her house at any time and play with Alice's dolls if Quinn was able to pick up some "Elbow grease" and "headlight fluid" for her. Quinn was actually able to find some bottled elbow grease, but has yet to find that headlight fluid.
47. Rainy Icedagger: When asked about her past, all she will say is that she HATES Cirno with a passion few can ever truly understand.
48. Russet Gloss: Likes makeup and perfumes of all sorts. Heard that there was a mythical perfume to be found in the underground, and so went in search of it.
49. Ryoko Anderash: Was born from a burnt out tree that fell into the hole that Jen Freefall and Dedra Peartree would later seal in their fight. Has the ability to find any ash, peat, coal, and oil within a one mile radius.
50. Selena Enisle: Was born near the Bamboo forest, and grew enamored with the skill and ease with which Kaguya was able to talk with and around others. Used to spend time with Kaguya in the hopes of being taught how to be as regal or well-spoken. Kaguya found it more amusing than anything else, and while she did give her a few pointers, she mainly used her as an unpaid maid to help keep her room clean. She got involved in a scuffle a couple decades back though that got started due to a huge misunderstanding, and Kaguya kicked her out. She fled in tears and ended up in the Underground.
51. Shizuka Featherlight: Former companion of a human adventurer whose last adventures were in the underground. Got lost for a long while before she eventually found her way to the Underground city. Can make things weigh less.
52. Strawberry Summers: Was born near a patch of strawberries near Star Saphire's home territory. Got into an argument with one of Star's Generals, and got beat down a couple times due to it. Left as a consequence. She HATES authority, but she also now knows she had no place left to go. She will grudgingly follow Tabuki's orders, but she does not like it in the least. She wants to become a Great Fae so she won't have to blindly follow the orders of others.
53. Valkyrie Garland: Valkyrie Garland, or as she likes to be known, "Val", is absolutely ANCIENT for a fairy. The problem is that she grew up among a village of human Vikings, and came to love battle too much. As such, she refuses to move onwards or upwards, prefering instead of fight, to kill, and to be killed as she is. Unfortunately, she missed the area that was supposed to house Valhalla entirely, and not trusting her sense of direction any further, decided to stay in Gensokyo instead. She could have stayed aboveground, but there were few true fights up there she could participate in. As such, she purposely went underground to continue her struggles.
54. Vanda Kiru: She remembers once helping an ex-samurai and an ex-farmer who got caught up in a local officials complex game of murder and betrayal. Her actions led to her helping save the day, and being considered (falsely) part of the reason things took place to begin with. She would make a decent sword fighter, if not for the fact that she lost her last sword and has her head too much in the clouds dreaming of adventure and heroics.
55. Vanice Fire: A compulsory liar and thief. At best she will only tell half-truths. Has the ability to open locks. Whether this is due to magic or skills is unknown, and her own statements on the matter cannot be fully trusted.
56. Virgo Ferrea: She once served a terrifying woman in the The City of Doors. Unfortunately for her, a portal opened up while she wasn't looking and she ended up in the caverns of the Former Hell of Blazing Fires.
57. Widget Goldberg: While many dream of becoming a hero, she dreams of becoming a villain. Sadly, her plans on world domination fell quite short due to her lack in abilities and competence.
58. Willow Barkskin: Like Emerald, she ended up without a place to stay due to the Fairy Wars.
59. Winter Horsemaiden: Used to help tend to horses in the winter. Not so much a "Maiden", as she likes to joke though. Sadly, the barn she lived in got destroyed by a Necromancer, who revived the family and farm animals as undead and skeletons. Not knowing what to do, she followed one of the undead horses into the Blazing Hells.
60. Yumi Gelatin: She claims to have the soul of a monster that once ruled entire galaxies residing within her body. Whether this is actually the case, or a sign of some sort of madness, is unknown at this time.
61. Yumiko Creo: A fairy born in the realm of dreams. She can find the beliefs of any other. She cannot find her own for some strange reason.

"She can find the beliefs of any other."

It is a little vague, but not too much so. If you don't have a belief in something, or know what your beliefs are regarding something, she can tell you what you need to know to find out what your beliefs are. If beliefs were able to manifest (and this is Gensokyo), she could also tell you where each and every one of them is too.

Of course, the advice she can give is often vague as hell, and it requires that you tell her up front that you're trying to figure something/someone out.

Like...

"You don't know what your feelings are regarding Devils are, right? Go down three streets, and turn to the left and talk with the guy in the trench coat then."

"Why?"

"Dunno. All I can tell you is you'll find the answers you want if you talk to him."

"So who he is?"

"No clue."

"What sort of answers will I find?"

"Again, no clue."

30. Indigo Hamza: Went to the underground to find and kill the man that supposedly killed her father. Doesn't quite care, or grasp that she didn't actually have a father though.
Beautiful.

On the other hand, entries like Agateia Girasole's, Mallea Gimcrack's, Vanice Fire's, and Yumiko Creo's, wherein you're giving the fairies powers or skills, are almost certainly going to be a no-go, though. A number of the entries also seem out-of-place for the tone and world of Doll's Quest (most notably Mimi Gentlehands' and the "bag of never ending cheesy puffs" from Beryl's).

Also, pet peeve:
speak Cyrillic You can't "speak" Cyrillic. It's an alphabet used by several languages, not a language itself. Also "Ellette", being a French diminutive of "Ella", doesn't really go with "Анфиса Нася".

You know what I'd really like to read? Clinical Handbook of Mindfulness. That sounds like the book best able to improve charisma.
Also, I'd like to read The Giant Spider: Care, Feeding, and Riding of

The spider book should be read before we start fighting them. Heh, I was gonna suggest that book soon too.

Having just read the foreword of the real-world book of the same title, Clinical Handbook of Mindfulness sounds like it'll be full of woo and nonsense.

(Admittedly it's still the most likely charisma-improvement title, but that's just because none of the others look like they have any chance. And, what the hell -- this is, after all, a universe in which one can plausibly learn to fly, summon the dead, and/or punch the moon out of the sky via spiritual meditation and holy or unholy ritual; for all I know, CHoM's underlying thesis is a simple, unremarkable statement of fact here.)

So, what is the book about?

"Mindfulness" can be a description for one of three things though. Perception (I.E. paying attention to things), Intelligence (I.E. having the brainpower to remember things), or Charisma (I.E. remembering how to not be a dick). Out of these things, Charisma seems the least likely.

Do we know how barmaids/housemaids level up? I'd guess 1xp per turn, with same rank levels as combat troops, but I can't find stats anywhere.

Based on my reading of the foreword and a skim of those two Wikipedia articles, it appears to be Buddhism masquerading as psychology.

>>48
Mindfulness is, in this context, very clearly and unambiguously Perception; the only reason the book might be Charisma-ish is because it's largely about teaching mindfulness to other people in a clinical setting as a psychological treatment, which is the sort of thing Kahi has stated is Cha-based:

- [ ] Beryl "Feary" -- [ ] General comfort, etc, attempted alleviation of psychological trauma. [Cha]
So it might help us remove the Necrophobe trait -- I can see it giving a situational bonus to psychological treatment. (Assuming, again, that it's not twaddle; >>46 still applies.)

Sorry but, fulfilling wishes for our fairies add anything to their stats or is it just for flavor?

A little bit of both. For example, a few of the fairies are said to have rusty skills in certain things. That in turn means that if you put them where they can be used with those skills, instead of taking, say, a week, to get anything out of them with it, it would instead only take a day or so, and you might get a bit more than you would have expected. Also, it improves morale and makes them happy.

Ok, I'm reposting a more complete name/bio list here. Any advice/suggestions would be appreciated.

03. Alexandria: She dreams of conquest, and upon learning of Tabuki sought out a territory so that she could battle with her forces, fight honorably, and if defeated join Tabuki's army so that she could become a General in Tabuki's army. She also dreams of starting a harem for herself.

05. Anne: While many fairies can and do hurt other beings due to ignorance or carelessness, Anne is very different in that she knows that her malicious actions can and do bring pain, suffering, and death unto others. Anne likes killing things, and goes out of her way to kill and torture. Anne carries an anger that she had to flee the surface after she killed a human adult about 40 years ago. Since that time, many of the 'unexplained' human infant deaths in Gensokyo have dropped drastically.

06. Arras Abatie: (No Bio As Of Yet)

07. Balais Windsweeper: (No Bio As Of Yet)

08. Beatrice Pommel: (No Bio As Of Yet)

13. Brandy: Wishes that she was a barmaid. Also wishes that she lived by the sea, and was more human sized so she could meet a sailor who would bring her a locket made from the finest silver in the north of Spain.

14. Caramel Crabapple: Was born in the tunnels, but usually went up to the surface when she wanted to get something to eat. Had to stop doing that due to the Fairy Wars. She named herself after her favorite food.

15. Chalcedony Effiga: (No Bio As Of Yet)

16. Chiko Stoneflint: Wishes she had her old bow and arrows again more than anything else. Won't say much beyond that.

18. Ciarra Windchime: When asked about her past, all she will say is that she loved helping make windchimes.

19. Cleavage Canteloupe: She often jokes that she is "The Breast Fairy!", though she choose her name due to her love of breaking and eating canteloupes before anything else.

20. Crinoa Danaide: Born in an area of nature in the middle of an college campus before eventually finding her way to Gensokyo. Chose her name on a whim after overhearing a lecture on Greek mythology and deciding the name of a bit player 'sounded pretty'. She likes poofy dresses, the color green, and sea lilies for their fronds. She absolutely detests cats.

21. Crystal Falls: Born in the Underground near a pile of crystals near a small stream. Got pushed out of her birthplace due to competition.

24. Dedra Peartree: Fell through a hole into the Underground with Jen Freefall. Blames her for everything that's happened since then.

25. Deirdre Waterpitcher: Doesn't know much about who she is, other than her name. Doesn't quite know how she got her name, if you were to ask though.

26. Dena Birdkiller: Got snatched out of the air by a hungry hawk. Ended up riding it all the way into the ground. Neither of them survived the impact, but it's the thought that counts for this sort of thing. Technically, the hawk is now 'Redfeather Denaslayer', in a mutual counterpoint.

27. Denny Leafcutter: Used to work for Star Saphire. She would use her enchanted sword to cut down her opponents, and when the wars weren't taking place, hire herself out to cut down troublesome weeds.

28. Denver Flats: Her name is actually only Denver, but "Flats" is a nickname given to her by the other fairies due her unusual flatness, even for fairies.

29. Devia Spathe: She knows how to cook quite effectively. Unfortunately, she got lost in the caverns while searching for a specific type of mushroom for a meal she wanted to make for herself.

30. Dill Pickles: Named herself after the empty glass jar she used to lived in before it broke. Strangely, even though she was born in Gensokyo, she can read English, though that doesn't help her much.

31. Dominique: Describing her as gloomy is putting it lightly. Her favorite statements usually run along the lines of how "We're all doomed!" and "We delude ourselves to think that our pitiable band will stand up to our enemies!" She wishes she had an enchanted steel sword.

32. Ea Vespera: Thinks she's a robot fueled by ether. Amused the kappas for some time, until she thought she ran out of fuel and fell into the underground.

34. Elizabeth: She did not start out as a fairy, but rather as an overly ambitious young human noble who came into posession of an incomplete magical tome. While the dark rituals she undertook did give her the immortal beauty she sought while as a human, it did not come as she expected until after her death where she was reborn as a fairy.

36. Elmyra: She LOVES hugging and squeezing cute furry things, along with other fairies, youkai, and humans. Unfortunately, she does not quite understand that her actions tend to usually kill small animals and traumatize fairies in the process.

40. Frances Furypine: Acted as an aid to an unnamed Youkai. Said youkai ended up sealed, and she was left with the fear that she would be next.

41. Gakuen The Troublemaker: Gakuen loves causing chaos and destruction where-ever she goes. Sadly, others did not appreciate her gifts and talents in these regards.

42. Hana Valete: She liked jumping on fireworks and riding them up into the sky before they exploded. Many times she misjudged when that would take place though. Accidentally sealed herself in the Underground via setting off a stash of hidden fireworks.

43. Henna Buckle: Was absolutely BORED out of her mind until Tabuki showed up. Loves the fact that she now has the ability to ham it up as a Berserker. Loved to sing songs even prior to the fact that she got a Berserker costume.

44. Honey Mints: Named herself after her favorite food. Loves talking about food. Doesn't remember how she ended up in the Underground though, and doesn't seem too bothered by that fact either. Loves the fact that she can now cook her foods due to Tabby's gift of fire magic.

45. Honeyweed Briarfoot: Was born in a honeyweeds briarpatch. Her briarpatch was harvested for their medicinal uses, and she was left without a home.

46. Houri Pineseed: Was born near a very tall pine tree. Lost her home when the tree fell down due to a human woodcutter. Hates humans with a passion.

47. Indigo Hamza: Went to the underground to find and kill the man that supposedly killed her father. Doesn't quite care, or grasp that she didn't actually have a father though.

48. Iona Silk: An underground born fairy, she used to work for a tailor who made clothes and dresses out of spider's silk. She tried to make some clothing for herself from a spider's silk. She belatedly discovered this works better from /outside/ the webs.

49. Janice: Went to the Underground to find something she thought was stolen by another fairy, but in truth she left it someplace else and forgot about it.

50. Jasper Ormolu: Was born in the tunnels between a vein of Jasper and Gold.

51. Jen Freefall: Loved fighting while freefalling. Fell through a hole into the underground while fighting another fairy. The combat sealed the hole, and neither could find a way out.

52. Jonathan Jones: Used to hang out with the souls of damned pirates and sailors. Dreams of one day sailing the seas on a ship.

53. Kali Shinkicker: She has the habit of kicking shins. She also has a bad habit of challenging things much bigger than her to shinkicking games. Most Oni are either amused or confused when issued such a challenge.

54. Keiko Boneblossom: Was born in the Underground near a pile of bones. She has the power to make bones "Grow". If Eirin Yagokoro knew of her, she would be employed in her clinic due to her ability.

55. Kerrin Garnet: Went to the Underground in search of fame and fortune. Didn't find either.

56. Kohaku: She does Cocaine!

57. Koreka The Unrepentant: Proudly exclaims that she "Loves the cock!" Sadly, this is not a reference to a love of males or of sex, but actually for her love of roosters.

58. Lapis Lazuli: (No Bio As Of Yet)

59. Levina: Loves the ocean. Cannot wait for the one who lays dreaming to someday awake.

60. Lilith: Wannabe demonologist.

61. Lucy Loveless: Always complains about how there is no real Love in her life. She's kind of envious of Emerald/Tabuki, though she won't admit it.

62. Maki Deathblossoms: Is very skilled at being able to find the most dangerous of Makai's flora. Her tea making skills are excellent though as a consequence.

63. Mallea Gimcrack: Used to live near the Kappa village. Knows quite a bit about how to use a wrench. Sadly she got lost while exploring the reactor and the following hallways of the former hells. Somehow managed to get stuck way down in the underground by the time that Tabuki came along.

64. Marshmallow Buttons: Like many other fairies, she named herself after something unique to herself, which in her case was a love of marshmellows and buttons. She wants to one day open a candy shop, even though she knows she wouldn't know how to run such a business.

65. Melanie: She is very reluctant to talk about her past, and when pressed to talk about her past, she consistantly gives a different ridiculous answer each time as to her history. When asked why she says that her past is none of your business, regardless of who you are.

66. Mieszko Tanglefoot: She can speak two languages flawlessly. Those languages? Gibberish and Bullshit. Her grasp of Penguin is almost comprehensible though.

67. Mimi Gentlehands: Mimi Gentlehands, Fairy Porn Star. Made a lot of silvers performing for the camera. Sadly, she also made bets she was unable to pay.

69. Morte Flambeau: Morte was born near the underground streams where lost souls and spirits gathered, and she used to love making a bright light to lead them around, sometimes in fun, sometimes because the Oni bribed her to do so for reasons she really didn't care about. Morte suffered three nearly mortal wounds due to Tabuki's forces, and has come to despise Tabuki with a passion because of it. While she was always wary of the local underground creatures and denizens, recent events have led her to despise Zombies of all sorts almost as deeply as she does Tabuki, and Morte Falmbeau would not mind finding a means to kill all of them permanently.

69. Mustard Seashell: Was born near the beach many centuries back, but made a deal that stripped her of much of her power. Doesn't remember who she made a deal with, or for what, but knows it had to have been one hell of a deal for her to be willing to trade her power, along with many of her memories for it.

70. Narutaru Hoshimaru: She watched a human warrior battle once and fell in love with what she saw. While many other fairies would then aspire to become a swordswoman, Narutaru desired to become like the blade. As such, she dreams of finding a way to become capable of turning any part of her body into a weapon. She wishes to become the ULTIMATE living weapon.

71. Navi Tresdias: Navi got abandoned by her elven lover in the most dickish manner possible. In his defense though, she often kept repeating herself unnecessarily.

72. Octavia Veerle: Swears she's of noble birth, and tries to act as a real lady would. Her act would be convincing, if she wasn't so easily distracted and quick to reveal her true tomboyish nature.

73. Paige Noisemaker: Loves loud noises. Can make loud noises. Can also make small explosions randomly.

74. Pebbles: Likes to "Bam-bam", as she puts it.

77. Rainy Icedagger: When asked about her past, all she will say is that she HATES Cirno with a passion few can ever truly understand.

78. Reimof The Brave: Is VERY brave, and so totally not a coward!

79. Rhapsody Starlight: She loves bright colors and noises, which in turn explains her love of danmaku. She wants nothing more than to be able to recreate the beauty of a star's light at a moments notice.

80. Ruby Waters: (No Bio As Of Yet)

81. Russet Gloss: Likes makeup and perfumes of all sorts. Heard that there was a mythical perfume to be found in the underground, and so went in search of it.

82. Ryoko Anderash: Was born from a burnt out tree that fell into the hole that Jen Freefall and Dedra Peartree would later seal in their fight. Has the ability to find any ash, peat, coal, and oil within a one mile radius.

83. Sayaka Marci: Went on her own crusade against the evils of witches and set out to purge them with fire! That didn't end well after trying to burn her fourth fairy. She was quickly exiled. No one knows where she got the fuel from though.

85. Shiina Piesnatcher: (No Bio As Of Yet)

86. Shizuka Featherlight: Former companion of a human adventurer whose last adventures were in the underground. Got lost for a long while before she eventually found her way to the Underground city. Can make things weigh less.

88. Sue Osteolith: Originally from a desert area in the middle of North America, but one day became interested in the oddly-shaped rocks humans were extracting from the ground. After becoming familiar with all the shapes that could be found in her area, Sue set off on a journey to learn about more. Unfortunately, due to her practice of heading to the rockiest place possible, has been nowhere near the Bamboo Forest and its population of live dinosaurs. She likes chisels, the color red, and dinosaurs for their majesty. She absolutely detests vultures.

89. Telma Kimimela: She wants to start her own harem.

90. Tokikki Bloodstone: (No Bio As Of Yet)

91. Toni Manju: Was used as a scout for a Youkai criminal gang. Had to go into hiding after it was discovered that she ratted the 'boss' out for Human trafficking, and didn't want to get sealed away by her (former) fellows.

92. Usagi Rocksalt: The "Rocksalt Bunny" as she likes to call herself loves the flesh of rabbits, but got lost during the hunt of one, leading her deep into the Underground.

95. Vanice Fire: A compulsory liar and thief. At best she will only tell half-truths. Has the ability to open locks. Whether this is due to magic or skills is unknown, and her own statements on the matter cannot be fully trusted.

96. Virgo Ferrea: She once served a terrifying woman in the The City of Doors. Unfortunately for her, a portal opened up while she wasn't looking and she ended up in the caverns of the Former Hell of Blazing Fires.

97. Widget Goldberg: While many dream of becoming a hero, she dreams of becoming a villain. Sadly, her plans on world domination fell quite short due to her lack in abilities and competence.

98. Willow Barkskin: Like Emerald, she ended up without a place to stay due to the Fairy Wars.

100. Yumi Gelatin: She claims to have the soul of a monster that once ruled entire galaxies residing within her body. Whether this is actually the case, or a sign of some sort of madness, is unknown at this time.

101. Yumiko Creo: A fairy born in the realm of dreams. She can find the beliefs of any other. She cannot find her own for some strange reason.
